History of our company
Meet the history of our company. Today we will tell a story of how everything started and how our company was created.
A story that began with an idea. The idea sprouting somewhere in our heads. Overtime began to take on real shape and eventually it turned into a full-fledged product.
A product we are proud of and which has changed the reality of restaurateurs throughout Poland, and soon (keep your fingers crossed) in Europe!
So how did it all start?
Every good story starts with a not necessarily good idea. So it was this time. Although our first idea for the company was not a fiasco (quite the opposite!), it did not meet all of our expectations.
After the adventure with Papu Kurier – a company that brought together couriers in several cities throughout Poland – came the time for something new! We have already had experience with the gastronomy industry. We delivered over a quarter of a million deliveries, we employed several hundred drivers. Above all – each of us completed at least several hundred orders.
The rule was simple. Everyone, regardless of their position, had to travel at least once a week with deliveries. By car, scooter, or … bicycle. The knowledge that we got from this experience was HUGE! Something that cannot be read from books. It is only thanks to these experiences that we know why the lack of information about the floor number can slow down the delivery by a few minutes 🙂 We have also learned how hard is combining orders, managing drivers, settling employees, etc. without a good system that can help you with it! For a while, we were the largest company of this type in Poland!
Change of business profile
We always had BIG DREAMS! It didn’t take us a long time to understand that in order to pursue them, we must change our business model. Dealing only with logistics, i.e. employing drivers, organizing the fleet of vehicles, communicating with customers, etc. is a business very difficult to scale. Therefore the chances of leaving the country are minimal. One would say almost nonexisting. As a result, we made a difficult decision to take a different path …
Most importantly we wanted to use the knowledge and competencies that we gained, in the next project. We had experience in sales, IT (after all, we built the whole system ourselves, we implemented a grant from the National Center for Research and Development which allowed us to learn something about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence), knowledge of the gastronomy industry and experience gained through over 250,000 completed deliveries. Taking all this into account, we made the so-called “pivot” and we decided to make a tool whose goal is to maximize the automation of the work of people taking orders in restaurants.
Struggles of restaurant owners
We have seen from experience with a previous company that Restaurateurs do not have an easy life. The same goes for waiters/waitresses who often work like robots. They have to make a lot of decisions literally in a few seconds. Constantly worrying about what happens in the kitchen, where the driver is, what orders have already gone, what the customer ordered, whether the toppings have already finished, how long the delivery will take, etc. can be really exhausting. If we add to it problems with couriers, orders coming from several sales channels at the same time, lack of employees … This industry often works like taverns … in the Middle Ages!
We were not interested in copying existing solutions and mediocrity. Therefore we decided to create something new. Something that could become a real Game-Changer, not on a Polish scale, but all over the world.
And that’s how we came with an idea for PAPU.io 🙂
We started implementing the idea in the summer of 2018. From the very first days, we had clients who believed in what we do. Seeing how well our idea was received by restaurant owners was a great motivator!
From the very beginning, we had a feeling that we are on the right path… Exactly on November 30, 2019, at 23:20 order No 1000 000 “pop up” in our system. We couldn’t believe it. Something that seemed so distant suddenly became our reality.
Just when we got used to a new situation, another success got us excited all over again! In March we succeeded in establishing cooperation with our first client from abroad (Danke für dein Vertrauen!)! Our little dreams came true and we were ready for more!
Is very important for you to know that success didn’t make us rest on our laurel. We work hard and we will always CARE about your opinions. The fact that we see an increasing number of customers coming from recommendations from daily users of our product, makes us extremely happy!
We are a tiny step further than we were at the beginning. However we know, we still have a long way to go. We have accomplished maybe 1% of our goal. Maybe even less than 1%, so we are aware of how big our dream is!

Thank you for your daily work and commitment! We know that having You onboard makes conquering the gastronomy market on Mars possible!
